Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 17, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how HighDanger ("HighDanger," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use highdanger.com and our related services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

HighDanger is an independent hockey analytics product. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the National Hockey League (NHL) or any team.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password (handled by our authentication provider, never stored by us in plain text). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google.
  • Profile details. Optional information you choose to add, such as a display name, favorite team, favorite player, and the year you became a fan.
  • Your watchlist. The players you choose to follow.
  • AI questions. The questions you submit to our AI assistant, so we can answer them and enforce usage limits.
  • Communications. If you email us or opt in to emails, we keep that correspondence and your preferences.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage and device data. Basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and pages viewed, used to operate and secure the Service.
  • Local storage. We store small items in your browser, such as your light or dark theme preference and your sign-in session. These are functional, not advertising trackers.
  • Error and performance logs. We use a monitoring tool to capture errors so we can fix them. These logs may include technical details about the request that failed.
  • Anonymous analytics. Aggregate, non-identifying counts such as article views and product tour steps.

Payment information

If you purchase a paid plan, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not collect or store your full card number. Stripe handles card data under its own privacy policy.

2. How we use information

  • To provide, operate, and improve the Service, including your account, watchlist, and the AI assistant.
  • To enforce fair-use and question limits and to protect against abuse, fraud, and excessive automated use.
  • To send you transactional messages (such as email confirmation and password resets) and, if you opt in, the weekly scouting digest and product updates.
  • To analyze and improve performance, features, and our models.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

3. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:

  • Service providers that run the Service on our behalf, each handling only what they need:
    • Supabase (authentication and database)
    • Netlify (website hosting)
    • Anthropic (powers the AI assistant; your question text is sent to generate an answer)
    • Resend (sending email)
    • Google (only if you choose Google sign-in)
    • Stripe (payment processing, for paid plans)
    • Our error-monitoring provider (diagnostics)
  • Legal reasons. If required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of HighDanger, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers. If HighDanger is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction.

4. The hockey data on our site

The statistics, standings, rosters, draft information, and similar content on HighDanger come from public sources, including the NHL public API, junior and college league feeds, and other public hockey data. This is public sports data about athletes in their professional capacity. It is not personal information you provided, and it is not covered by your account privacy choices.

5. Email and your choices

You control whether you receive non-essential email. You can opt out of the weekly digest and marketing email at any time from your account settings or the unsubscribe link in any such email. We may still send essential account messages (for example, password resets). We honor applicable anti-spam laws, including Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and the United States CAN-SPAM Act.

6. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to meet legal, security, or accounting requirements.

7. Your rights

We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, to withdraw consent, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update most details in your account settings, or contact us at hockeyops@highdanger.com to make a request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International data transfers

We operate from Ontario, Canada. Several of our service providers are located in the United States and elsewhere, so your information may be stored and processed in Canada, the United States, and other countries that may have different data protection laws than where you live. We take steps to ensure your information remains protected when it is transferred.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
