Florida's back-to-back Cup window didn't close so much as it went to the trainer's room. Aleksander Barkov lost the entire 2025-26 season to a torn ACL, Matthew Tkachuk managed just 31 games, and Brad Marchand and Seth Jones were held to 52 apiece, and the NHL's oldest roster (a 30.6 average age) missed the playoffs for the first time since 2021-22. The offseason was a reload: Brady Tkachuk arrives from Ottawa to reunite with brother Matthew, and Jacob Markstrom takes the crease after the team moved on from Sergei Bobrovsky. The bounce-back hinges on two things Florida can't fully control, health and goaltending. Paul Maurice's heavy system remains the identity.
